Introducing Porrón & Piña
Porrón & Piña is helmed by Chef Tyler Anderson, whose other lauded ventures have included Millwright’s in Simsbury, Connecticut and The Cook & The Bear in West Hartford. The Connecticut Restaurant Association has twice named Chef Anderson “Chef of the Year,” and he’s been nominated multiple years in a row for “Best Chef Northeast” by the James Beard Foundation.
Here you’ll find Spanish cookery at its finest, with delectable pinxtos small plates such as octopus skewers with pickled peppers and onion and Passmore Ranch caviar, tapas dishes such as Patas de Pato (smoked duck legs) and Monkfish Adobo, and the hearty perfection of Paella “Valencia.”
In the libations department, Porrón & Piña pours some 60 wines by the glass, backed up by additional bottles, plus cocktails and craft beers by the draft pint or the can.
Speaking of libations, Restaurant Porrón comes complemented by Bar Piña: an invitingly classy downtown lounge with a mixological lineup curated by Bar Director Tim Cabral and dishes available from the restaurant. During the day, Bar Piña transforms into a mighty inviting donut and coffee shop showcasing the exceptional skill of Executive Pastry Chef Kristin Eddy.
Dining (and Wining) at Porrón & Piña
Restaurant Porrón is open from 5 to 9 PM Mondays through Thursdays and from 5 to 10 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Bar Piña operates from 4 to 11 PM Mondays through Fridays, opening at 5 PM on Saturdays. The donut shop, meanwhile, runs daily from 7 to 11 AM.
The Monday-through-Friday Happy Hour at Restaurant Porrón, meanwhile, lasts from 5 to 6:30 PM and at Bar Piña from 4 to 7 PM. That’s not all, either: On Monday, you can enjoy half-price bottles of wine!
