Treating yourself to a Hartford staycation this summer? Make it extra-special with accommodations with us at the historic Goodwin, which just won best overnight stay/city lodging 2020 by Connecticut Magazine
Well, needless to say, there’s so much that Connecticut’s capital offers: plenty to do and see even in this strange time when many of us aren’t embarking on long-distance travel.
One of the special appeals of the Hartford summer is “Pratt Street Patio,” a pedestrian-only good time in the city’s downtown that you’re just a few blocks away from as a guest at The Goodwin!
The Weekly Downtown “Block Party” of Pratt Street Patio
Between Main and Trumbull, brick-lined Pratt Street anchors its own national historic district defined by some fabulous Hartford architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It also provides ready access to the downtown business zone, making it—alongside those magnificent buildings and charming brick pavement—one of the city’s defining thoroughfares.
During the summer, Pratt Street’s closed to vehicular traffic certain hours of weekdays and Saturdays, transforming it into “Pratt Street Patio,” conceived of by the city and representatives from its business community. With tables set out in the street for al fresco dining and regular live entertainment on offer, it’s a pedestrian-only hangout that locals, visitors, and downtown shops and restaurants have been loving these past few years.
This year’s Pratt Street Patio times are as follows:
- Monday – Thursday: 3 – 9PM
- Friday & Saturday: 3 – 11 PM
Along with live music on certain other days, Friday’s Pratt Street Patios feature free entertainment from 5 to 6 PM.
