You’ve got any number of awesome destinations for enjoying fall colors and the overall autumnal atmosphere. Today at The Goodwin blog, we thought we’d spotlight two farms easy to reach from our doorstep offering absolutely irresistible fall pleasures!
Rosedale Farms & Vineyards (24 E. Weatogue St., Simsbury, CT)
A fifth-generation family operation, Rosedale Farms & Vineyards is marking its 100th anniversary in 2020, which makes it all the more special a fall to pay this lovely place a visit.
Along with the rustic scenery and live music, you can taste some of the fabulous wines produced here. They include a One Hundred Year Anniversary White Table Wine produced to commemorate this year’s milestone, plus a number of other regular whites and such red wines as the Farmington River Red (Petite Syrah/Marquette) and Pride of Simsbury (Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Syrah). You can also sample boutique Rosedale wines such as the Serendipity Rosé, the Sundance Sweet White, and the Summer Red sweet red wine—all good stuff!
Rosedale Farms & Vineyards is open through October on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 PM, with live musicians providing wine-friendly entertainment each of those afternoons.
Riverview Farms (91 Wassuc Rd, South Glastonbury, CT)
Established in 1977, Riverview Farms is one of our region’s beloved fall family destinations. Its Fall Festival runs on weekends from September 19 to November 1, open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM in September and on Fridays from noon to 6 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM in October.
Here you can indulge in such timeless fall delights as taking a hayride tour, fraternizing with friendly critters in the petting zoo, tasting seasonal treats such as homemade apple fritters (plus the perennial delectables of Robb’s Ice Cream Shoppe), and testing your navigational skills in the corn maze.
