The boutique accommodations offered at the historic and beautifully restored Goodwin in downtown Hartford provide guests with their pick of first-rate nightlife in Connecticut’s capital city. And one of the busiest and best destinations for that Hartford-style nightlife is the XFINITY Theatre, a 30,000-capacity venue that reliably serves up great tunes and great times courtesy of top-tier touring musicians.
Upcoming Shows at the XFINITY Theatre: Matchbox Twenty & Counting Crows
The September roster is certainly no exception. The XFINITY kicks off the month on the 2nd with a double-header of two of the defining bands of the 1990s: Matchbox Twenty and Counting Crows, teaming up for their A Brief History of Everything Tour.
Brantley Gilbert’s The Devil Don’t Sleep Summer Tour
That comes followed up on September 9 by the country swagger of Brantley Gilbert, who’s swinging by Hartford on the summer tour behind his 2017 record The Devil Don’t Sleep. Tyler Farr and Luke Combs will be supporting Gilbert for the proceedings.
The Alternative Routes
September 16 sees the Alternative Routes take the stage at the XFINITY Theatre. Over the course of a career better than a decade in at this point, the band has joined forces with everyone from Patti Griffin to My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel.
The Laid Back Festival: In the Spirit of Greg Allman
The evening of September 23, a couple of bona fide music legends—Jackson Brown and Steve Winwood—will helm Hartford’s leg of the Laid Back Festival at the XFINITY. Laid Back came about in 2015 courtesy of a collaboration between Greg Allman, his manager, and Live Nation, and this year’s version—subtitled In the Spirit of Greg Allman—is partly one big memorial to the iconic Allman Brothers songwriter, who passed away just this past May.
Joining Brown and Winwood for the Laid Back festivities will be some equally high-class musicians: cult rocker Peter Wolf (who’s hobnobbed in the studio with everybody from Merle Haggard to Mick Jagger) and Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, headed (appropriately enough) by the legendary Allman Brothers drummer Jaimoe.
